
Michael Crawford is from Takoma Park, Maryland. He began his dance training at prestigious institutions including Maryland Youth Ballet and Kirov Academy, while attending summer intensives at The Rock School and San Francisco Ballet on full scholarships. During his senior year, he was accepted into the Kennedy Center’s Master Class Series, where he trained and performed with artists from some of the world’s leading dance companies.Mr. Crawford continued his training at The Washington Ballet, where he performed with the company under the direction of Septime Webre while enrolled in its top training program. Following graduation, he joined the Professional Division of Pacific Northwest Ballet under the direction of Kent Stowell and Francia Russell.After his time at Pacific Northwest Ballet, Michael danced professionally with Dance Theatre of Harlem, José Mateo Ballet Theatre, Ballet Memphis, American Repertory Ballet, Connecticut Ballet, and Oakland Ballet, performing numerous principal roles throughout his career.He has also appeared in acclaimed productions including Guys and Dolls, West Side Story, and Show Boat at the Kennedy Center, in addition to touring and performing on international stages. His guest artist credits include The Washington National Opera, Adam Miller Dance Project, Kinetic Dance Works, Brooklyn Ballet, and Ballet Neo.While signed with New York Model Management, Mr. Crawford appeared in international advertising campaigns and walked multiple seasons of New York Fashion Week. His film and television credits include the feature film Step Up and ABC’s Forever.An award-winning teacher and choreographer, Michael has taught and created work both nationally and internationally for many years. He has coached numerous prize-winning dancers at prestigious competitions, including Youth America Grand Prix, with many of his students going on to attend top collegiate dance programs, join renowned professional companies, and perform on Broadway.Michael currently serves on the faculty of Broadway Dance Center, STEPS on Broadway, Marymount Manhattan, Schoolof American Ballet and Pace University.
